Behind the Scenes!

Supernova is a student made film that was done at Montserrat College of Art. This animated short was made in a class called "Animation Studio Projects", which was created to mimic real industry standards and roles.

My roles of this film:

Producer

Animatic

Rough Animation

Clean-Up Animation

Voice Actor (Nova)

Being the producer of my team, I had to make sure to be on top of deadlines and progression of each scene and team member. I would check up on each person and be there as a general support, monitor progress, and understand the process of animation.

Because this is a small team, I would also contribute to animating and voice acting! One of the items I helped animating was the animatic.

The animatic was a divided work with my art director, Isabella Otero. The beginning was done by me and the second portion by Isabella!

Once the animatic was completed, I continued my role as the producer to make a designated shot list.

This shot list would be a huge player throughout the entirety of the semester. I really loved looking through it nearing the end of the production and seeing my other team members all looking at it. This would be mainly updated by me to keep track of where we were at as a team.

After this shot list was created, I would start assigning homework to my team members each week.

This was to help make sure everyone was playing a part in the project, and we were all contributing to the same destination!

I also had my members do a "role call" to monitor and see what everyone was doing and what they completed during the working hours.

This class is what made me realize I really enjoyed this position. Working with people, contributing to the art but also monitoring to make sure things were on time, and being very close to the art directors decisions were so fun. Isabella was a great art director to work with, and we bounced ideas off each other consistently while I made sure it would be doable and reasonable.

Below will be a gallery showcasing some of the production work. :)

Once the films color was all done, we sent the finals to our editor all in one folder to make their job easier to compositing everything in one file.

On December 9th, 2024, Supernova was completed :)
