Behind the Scenes!

One of the most important things that you can do when making an animation is organizing and scheduling!
My dream position is to be a producer in the future, so I find it important that I grow this skill as much as possible!
I have a few pitch ideas written down, but Soar's stood out to me the most. This would be my first real big project that I fully animated, and knowing my work ethic and determination, I had no worries that this film could be made exactly from the way I envisioned it in my head.

While her name wouldn't be important to the film, I decided to name her "Sunny".
Because this film had a tight deadline, I would only focus on a front and back character sheet.

Sunny gave me quite the trouble when it came to deciding her color palette... I wanted Sunny to have a gentle and light feel. Since the film focused on good feels and is based in the characters dream, her colors would be important to really solidify this feeling to the audience.
With lots of feedback, I locked Sunnys design! Her final colors made me so happy and I felt excited to continue drawing her.
I went to Storyboard Pro and started to thumbnail out my ideas of how I wanted the film to go.

Once I felt I was in a good spot to move to production, I reached out to my good friends Arcadia Doughty and Luca Lewis.
These two are talented beyond belief and have fantastic work ethics. Arcadia has a wonderful hand in music and sound, and Luca is a marvelous background artist. I trusted these two to not only take on these roles, but to also let them have creative freedom on what they thought would be best in their positions.
Now it was time for my favorite part of an animation project.... the shot list!

A shot list displays the status of your project, so it's incredibly important to make sure that it can be read with ease and is organized!
Below will be a gallery showcasing some of the production work. :)

Each time I would finish a scene, I would export it from Toon Boom Harmony and place it into After Effects. This is because once I would enter the post-production phase, I wouldn't have to worry about putting my scenes in their specific spots last minute.

I really wanted to push my skills with the camera effect, and it was quite fun to play with!
Once I was satisfied with the end result, Soar was completed on April 28th, 2026 :)
